About

My name is Tracey Eide and I am a professional equine/sport photographer, who is not only familiar with horses, but has ridden and shown them as well. I have competed in open Shows/Events (Cattle Penning, Pleasure, Dressage, etc.), as well as at Quarter Horse shows, with much success. My stepdad was a well-known Trainer and Farrier in our area for over 50 years. He passed away a few years ago and there are still people who tell me that they wish he was still around to shoe or train their horses. My own horse (21 years young) is a product of my family's breeding and he was also started by my stepdad (I did the finishing).

I have had computers since the 1980's and am one of those people who enjoy building my own from the ground up and when I got into designing custom Western Show Clothes a number of years ago, I used my computer to design patterns. I decided to sell my services online and created a website on my own (I created this one too, along with many others) and was asked to design more websites and soon, my custom show clothes business went by the wayside and I was designing websites, writing databases, doing magazine ad layouts, etc., pretty much full time. My horse is quite happy to be a lawnmower. But there was something missing and that was my camera.

I have always had an interest in photography and was a very serious amateur many moons ago. However, my aspirations to shoot more than the odd horse show and become a full-time professional show photographer had to be put on hold for over 20 years, when all of my equipment was stolen. Being a single parent, I could not afford to buy all new equipment, but I knew that one day I would start again. With many thanks to my husband Rob, who supports my crazy schedule, I was able to restart with my passion, but this time - doing it digitally. Fortunately for me and my customers, I know how to use my computer and I can take really good photographs and turn them into great ones!

I use only Epson printers with K3 archival quality inks (over 200 years). These are the same ones that not only London Drugs uses, but many independant professional labs use now too. At least those who have upgraded their equipment to keep up with this new digital age. I choose not to use the cheaper places like ....., because I don't feel the product put out is of the quality I want to give my customers. That doesn't mean they don't have their purpose. They're good for those point-n-shooters, but not for true professionals. You may find some people who will attempt to dispute this fact, but they are usually the ones who are not able to afford quality printers and inks and don't want to admit it. I know my way costs more, but my customers are definitely worth it! For those who buy my photo CD's I recommend myself first to do the printing or London Drugs or a couple of pro labs (they're in the list provided).

In fact, printing of this nature is sometimes known as "giclee" printing and is used to reproduce fine art work for sale in thousands of museums and art galleries. If the prints are framed properly under glass and kept away from sunlight (as all worthwhile photos should be), they are even more resistant to colour shifts or fading that regular photographs according to: http://www.wilhelm-research.com

I pride myself on my professionalism and it shows in the work that I do - each image I create, I create as if for myself and I'm pretty picky.
